The father of Rulani Mokwena, Julius Sono, criticises Mamelodi Sundowns for parting ways with his son ahead of 2024-2025 pre-season.
The 37-year-old tactician parted ways with the Brazilians after having a fallout with the club’s hierarchy led by Sporting Director Flemming Berg after failing to reach objectives set by the club.

Mokwena’s father, Julius ‘KK’ Sono, is disappointed in how Sundowns decided to sack his son after the season had and adviced to take three months away from football.
“I did have a chat with Rulani. The only advice I gave him for now is to take a three-month break before he makes a decision,” the former Orlando Pirates player told KickOff.
“It will help calm his temper and spirit. Then get up, dust himself, and start again. The treatment he got from Sundowns was unfair, to be honest.
“He was fired for continental football. He was sacked for not winning the CAF Champions League, but after that, they replaced him with a domestic coach.
“You replace him with someone who has no record in Africa. It doesn’t make sense. This is a method of madness.
“Rulani is a CAF Champions League associate member. I told him to Google MLS clubs and assist some of the local players in finding teams in America.”
