Orlando Pirates has signed former Kaizer Chiefs starlet Vusi Mtshali from Nida Sports Academy.

Mtshali first got taste of playing for a big club in his early teens days where he featured for Pirates’ arch-rivals, Chiefs in the Gauteng Development League(GDL) after he joined the club from fellow GDL side RESA.
However, his time at Naturena didn’t yield to any success, forcing him to move from the club to Nida Sports Academy, where he got his chance to impress and earn a move to the Buccaneers.
The young defender impressed during the recently ended 2026 Pirates Cup, where his performances for Nida Sports Academy attracted interest from various clubs, but the Sea Robbers managed to scoop up his services.
He will form part of the club’s Dstv Diski Challenge(DDC) side. Whether he will be part of the side from this season or from next season remains to be seen.

Mtshali will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Relebohile Mofokeng and Mbekezeli Mbokazi, by making sudden impact in the reserve side ranks which will prompt his promotion to the first-team like the two South African internationals did.
