He won the first top eight cup competition under MTN back in 2009 with Arrows, beating the now defunct Ajax Cape Town FC 6-0 in the final before winning it alongside Rulani Mokwena in 2021.
The newly appointed sole head coach is looking to create another first in the competition, as he is looking to win the cup after its price money was increased from R8 million to R10 million like he did in 2009 when he became the first coach to lift the R8 million cup.
“It’s more exciting for me because I was the first one to win it,” he told Soccer Laduma.
“Now they have improved the money, and maybe football gods will be with me again to win it as the first one again when it’s R10 million, and that’s what excite me.”

The Sea Robbers have won the three of the last four MTN8 trophies, beating the Brazilians towards winning both trophies(in the semi-finals during the 2022 edition and in the final in the last one).
