Stellenbosch FC beat TS Galaxy FC 3-1 to join Orlando Pirates in the semi-finals of the 2024 MTN8 Cup.
In the second quarterfinal of this season’s MTN8 campaign, Stellies took on The Rockets in Cape Town in what was expected to be a fierce encounter between the clubs that finished third and sixth in the league last season.

The visitors started the encounter lively with the likes of Puso Dithejane and Kamogelo Sebelebele tormenting the hosts’ defence, with the latter’s brilliant solo strike in the 18th minute breaking the the deadlock.
Sebelebele dribbled past three Stellies defenders before his powerful strike hit the left post and went in, leaving Sage Stephens in goals helpless.
However, the match went into the break the hosts leading, after Bafana Bafana international Jayden Adams flicked Devin Titus’ cross from the right flank past helpless Galaxy goalkeeper, Wensten Van de Linde in the 25th minute to level the scoreline.
Andre De Jong headed in Fawaaz Basadien’s corner in the 41st minute to give the Winelands 2-1 lead at the break.

Stellies went on to increase their 12 minutes into the second half after Basadien’s powerful strike sealed an impressive 3-1 victory for hosts over ten men Galaxy.
McBeth Mahlangu received two yellow cards in the second to see the visitors end the match with 10 men.
