Former Kaizer Chiefs forward Lucky Khune has officially taken the next step in his football career after being appointed as the new head coach of Marks of Excellence.

Lucky, who is the younger brother of Amakhosi legend Itumeleng Khune, will now begin life on the technical bench after making a name for himself as a player.
Marks of Excellence compete in the SAFA Dr. Kenneth Kaunda Hollywoodbets Regional League, where he will face the challenge of guiding the team in a competitive regional football environment.
The appointment gives the former striker an opportunity to use the experience he gained during his playing career and help develop players at the club.
Lucky Khune’s Journey From Naturena To Coaching
He first made headlines when he broke into the Chiefs first team during the 2009/10 season under then-coach Vladimir Vermezovic.
Having come through the Chiefs youth academy, the forward was given an opportunity to show what he could do at senior level.
One of the biggest highlights of his time at Naturena came in 2010, when he scored against Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Charity Cup.
The goal came in the Soweto Derby and remains one of the standout moments from his time wearing the famous gold and black jersey.
He also had the unique experience of sharing the Chiefs dressing room with his older brother Itumeleng, who went on to become one of the most recognised goalkeepers in South African football.
After his spell with Amakhosi, Lucky continued his career elsewhere, turning out for clubs including Vasco da Gama, Chippa United and Baberwa FC.
Now, years after making the move into senior football, Khune is starting a different journey as a coach.
The SAFA Hollywoodbets Regional League provides clubs with a platform to compete for promotion through the South African football pyramid, with the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda region based in the North West province.
