Stellies went into their second Next Gen Cup against Aston Villa FC after an impressive 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspurs.

Villa started the match on the forefront, forcing Stellies goalkeeper Dejean Ah Shene into two saves in the early stages of the match from two set-plays.
Despite the early pressure, the South African remained strong at the back while hitting Villa on the counter, with Langelihle Phili coming close to breaking the deadlock from one of the counter attacks before Quwan Plaatjies broke the deadlock.
The young striker curled a beautiful strike past the helpless Sam Lewis in Villa’s goal to hand Stellies the lead midway the first half. The away side nearly doubled the lead, but Keanan Johanessen was chalked off for offside.
