Mamelodi Sundowns star goalkeeper Ronwen Williams is back in training ahead of the start of the 2024-2025 season for the club.
Williams played most of last season with a shoulder injury after he injured his right shoulder during the semi-finals of the 2023 African Cup Nations(AFCON) against Nigeria earlier this year in Ivory Coast.

Despite the troublesome shoulder, the former Supersport United captain went to have a brilliant season on personal level, winning various individual awards including the 2023 AFCON goalkeeper of the tournament, 2023-2024 Dstv Premiership goalkeeper of the season, and 2023-2024 PSL Footballer of the Season.
However, the 32-year-old shot-stopper decided to go under the knife during the off-season to fix his problematic shoulder, which led to him missing out on the club’s pre-season tour to Austria and he is also expected to miss the start of the new season.
Despite the setbacks, Williams returned to training with his fellow teammates after he was spotted among the players in training this past Sunday at Chloorkop.
The club shared a video clip of the veteran middlefielder Themba Zwane doing the tradition the club has for players during their birthdays, and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was among the players cheering Zwane to dance.

But despite the positives towards his recovery, he is yet to return to full training, as he is expected to return to full training later this month or early next month.
In his absence, Sanele Tshabalala, Reyaad Pieterse, Denis Onyango, and Jody February are set to battle for the number one spot, which Williams is likely to reclaim upon his return.
