“Mamelodi Sundowns and Rhulani Mokwena amicably concluded an agreement bringing to an end Rhulani Mokwena’s employment as Head Coach,” the club stated.
“Sundowns wishes to express its gratitude to Rhulani Mokwena for his contribution to the successes and achievements of the Club during his tenure as Head Coach. Rhulani Mokwena will forever be part of the Mamelodi Sundowns family, and the club wishes him all of the very best with his future endeavours.
“The decision of Mamelodi Sundowns was taken by the Board taking into account the objectives and expectations of the Club and was not influenced or based on the recommendation of any individual associated with the Club,” the statement concluded.
A few hours after the announcement, the 37-year-old tactician was a guest on Robert Marawa’s Sports Worldwide show alongside the host of the show, the legendary Robert Marawa.
While Mokwena revealed that he didn’t want to leave the club, he was forced to, he is not short of suitors, as Moroccan giants AS FAR Rabat and Wydad Casablanca are said to be interested in him.

However, the former Orlando Pirates coach has his eyes set on a different job, as he told Marawa and his listeners his intention of coaching his own amateur club, Black Poison FC for the next coming weeks.
“I am already employed, I will be coaching Black Poison for the next couple of weeks,” Mokwena said on MSW.
“Hopefully I can revitalise myself and I can get the passion for football and coaching because I have lost it a little bit I must say.
“Maybe going back to where everything started, maybe that will reignite something.”
