Four coaches linked with the vacant head coach job at Mamelodi Sundowns after the departure of Rhulani Mokwena.
With clubs returning for the 2024-2025 Pre-season, the South African football fraternity was met with the shock exit of Mokwena from Sundowns after an average 2023-2024 season.

The 37-year-old tactician is reported to have had a fallout with the club’s Sporting Director, Flemming Berg, after the two had different ideas about the transfer of players and the missed objectives the club had last season.
Up to four coaches are linked with the head coach’s post a few hours after the club announced the departure of Mokwena.
Benni McCarthy
The former Orlando Pirates and Ajax Amsterdam star striker is on the verge of leaving English giants, Manchester United, after he was reported to have turned down a new two-year extension.
McCarthy is said to be eyeing a move to the Major Soccer League(MLS), and he is also open to a move back to the Dstv Premiership with the Brazilians a possible destination.

The former Al Ahly SC head coach is the leading candidate to take over at the club, but he is currently contracted to Umm Salal SC in Qatar and he is earning around 1.4 million US Dollars(Aroud R26 million) per year.

His salary demand may see his move to Chloorkop not happen, but the Frenchman is currently the favourite to become the club’s next head coach.
Manqoba Mngqithi
He recently signed a new lucrative deal with the club and is in the running t9 become the club’s head coach.
The former Golden Arrows tactician is currently leading the club in preparing for the upcoming season, and he is also in line to take over the head coach job, having shared the job with Mokwena two seasons ago.
Miguel Cardoso
Cardoso led Esperance to a 2-0 CAF Champions League semifinal aggregate victory over Sundowns last season, and after a successful season that saw him win the Tunisian Pemier and lose in the CAF Champions League final against Al Ahly SC.

The 52-year-old Portuguese is said to be discussed internally at the club and is also in the running to become the club’s next head coach.
Meanwhile, the club is expected to complete the signing of Moreirense star attacker Kobamelo Kodisang after parting ways with five players, with three of them attacking players.
Bongani Zungu, Brian Mandela Onyango, Gaston Sirino, Thabiso Kutumela, and most recently Junior Mendieta(joined Greek Super League club Volos NFC) are the five players that have left the club ahead of next season.
However, the club has triggered an option for a further year in the contracts of both Themba Zwane and Sammy Seabi, while the club continue to be in talks with Teboho Mokoena and Grant Kekana for new deals.
