The club decided to release five players, namely, Keagan Dolly, Sfiso Hlanti, Efmamjjasond Gonzalez, Njabulo Ngcobo, and Siyethemba Sithebe amid the expected appointment of Nasreddine Nabi as the head coach alongside his personal technical team.
Changes have forced the club’s hand to go into the market and look for replacements, and Sekhukhune United and Bafana Bafana International, Elias Mokwana, is one of the players the club is targeting.
According to Soccer Laduma, Chiefs is edging closer to signing Mokwana and has submitted a bid of around R12 million, which is R3 million short of the asking price for domestic clubs.
“That is what Chiefs are offering. Yes, R12 million. But according to Sekhukhune United, the lowest they could go for a local in the DStv Premiership could be R15 million. His value outside the country is between R25 million to R30 million, but because they understand the monetary situation locally that’s why they could go down to R15 million,” Soccer Laduma source said.
The publication also reports that the two clubs are still talking, and nothing is finalized yet.
“But as I have said, there is an offer from Chiefs. It’s not final, and it’s not like they won’t talk. They are still talking,” the source concluded.
