Mamelodi Sundowns extends Themba Zwane to stay at the club amid exit rumours ahead of the 2024-2025 season.

Themba Zwane celebrates his goal for Mamelodi Sundowns against Orlando Pirates in the final of the 2024 Nedbank Cup at Mbombela Stadium in Mbombela, Mpumalanga.

Heading into the 2024-2025 Pre-season, the Brazilians were expected to see a number of big personnel at the club leave as the club continued their continental supremacy quest.

After showing Gaston Sirino, Brian Mandela Onyango, Bongani Zungu, and Thabiso Kutumela the exit doors, the club is expected to partways with more players ahead of next season.

One of the players facing uncertainty was club captain, Zwane, as his contract at Chloorkop expired on the 30th of June 2024 after he signed a three-year deal with an option for a further year back in 2021.

According to Idiski Times, the 34-year-old attacking middlefielder is set to stay at Sundowns for a further year after the club triggered a one-year extension in his contract.

He is joined by Sammy Seabi, who is also set to stay with the club for a further year after the club also triggered the extension clause in his contract.

Meanwhile, the club has parted ways with Rulani Mokwena after the 37-year-old tactician had a fallout with the club’s Sporting Director Flemming Berg after a below par 2023/2024 season.

Mokwena is followed by his assistant Michael Loftman and performance analyst Dayle Solomon out of the club, as the club is linked with former Al Ahly SC head coach Patrice Carteron.
