Mamelodi Sundowns veteran star attacker Themba Zwane and his Bafana Bafana teammates start their 2024-2025 pre-season.

The Brazilians returned to training last week without eight players who represented Bafana Bafana in two 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe, respectively.

Having helped Bafana to collect four of the possible six points after one-all draw with Nigeria and 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe, Ronwen Williams, Khuliso Mudau, Mothobi Mvala, Aubrey Modiba, Thapelo Morena, Teboho Mokoena, Bathusi Aubaas, and Zwane were given extra week to rest before returning for pre-season.
On Monday, the 8th of July 2024, Bafana stars reported for duty to start their preparations under Manqoba Mngqithi and Steve Komphela after the latter rejoined the club late last week after the departure of Rulani Mokwena.
Mokwena left the club after having a fallout with the club’s hierarchy led by Sporting Director Flemming Berg.
Meanwhile, Zwane is set for another season at Masandawana after the club triggered an option to extend his stay for a further season after the completion of his contract at the end of last season.

However, Sundowns is likely to see more players leave the club ahead of next season, as the likes of Nyiko Mobbie and Rushine De Reuck are expected to follow Gaston Sirino, Brian Mandela Onyango, Bongani Zungu, Thabiso Kutumela, and Junior Mendieta out of the club.
