Despite tying down Bafana Bafana goalkeeper and captain to a new four-year deal that will see him stay at the club until the end of the 2027-2028 season, the club has struggled to tie down other top players at the club like Mokoena and Kekana.
While Mokoena is poised to see out the remaining two years of his contract and look for a dream move to Europe, Kekana has rejected the first two contract extension offers from the club.
The versatile defender is said to have received an initial offer of a two-year deal with an option for a further year on the same salary that he is on, which he turned down to only be offered a one-year deal with an increase in his salary by the club’s technical director, Flemming Berg.
The latest offer is said to have left Kekana unhappy and considering a move away from the club, with Kaizer Chiefs a possible move for the former Supersport United player.
However, Masandawana’s hierarchy is said to be set to offer the duo new improved offers before the start of the 2024-2025 season.
