Zwane’s new deal has left many questions about the club’s intention about the attacker, leading to the club’s head coach Mngqithi to making comments that has left a bitter taste in many in the South African football fraternity.
The former stated that players over the age of 30 should be offered the deals the club has offered Zwane as it will help them to keep on producing in the field of play.
While also encouraging fellow PSL clubs to follow suit, a statement that did not sit well with an agent who voiced his voice through KickOff.
“For him to make such statements as a recommendation to other clubs, it’s farfetched,” the agent told KickOff.
“Are you saying that if you have a quality player, who is above 30 and we can see his legs can carry him for the next four years, for example, you want to influence a practice that won’t do any good for our football?
“Because as long as players like Themba Zwane are in the game, it’s an encouragement and motivation to these young players to make sure they look after their body, they look after themselves off the pitch, so they can have longer careers.
“How do you reward longevity? You reward it with a contract that matches the performance as well as the conduct of the football player.
