The youngster travelled to Europe before the club could travel to the continent for pre-season, where he had a trial stint with Moldovan giants, Sheriff Tiraspol.

After an unsuccessful trial stint, the 20-year-old joined the club in Turkey for the last week of the pre-season tour in Europe.
Upon the club returning to South Africa, the club’s legend Theodore Douglas Khumalo, popularly known as Khumalo, reported on the SABC Sport football show, Soccerzone, that the club’s new head coach Nasreddine Nabi has asked the club to loan out six players.
According to Soccer Laduma, one of the players linked with a possible loan move is the young McCarthy.
The publication claims that the son of Chiefs legend, Fabian McCarthy, is not short of suitors, as Motsepe Foundation Championship clubs, Castaic Stars, Pretoria Callies, and Cape Town Spurs are interested in signing the South African junior international.
But the recently relegated Spurs are said to be front runners after losing their left-footed defender Rushwin Dortley to Amakhosi recently.
