Stellenbosch FC is poised to beat Kaizer Chiefs to the signing of Cape Town Spurs FC captain Chumani Butsaka ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
The 22-year-old has been a subject of interest for both Amakhosi and the Winelands after a superb second half of the 2023-2024 season.

With Chiefs inquiring on the services of Putsaka, Stellies submitted a R5 million offer with a 20% buy-out clause to their neighbours, which was rejected.
However, according to Soccer Laduma, Stellies is set to beat Chiefs to the signing of the player as they are set to go in with an improved offer for Putsaka while the Naturena-based club is expected to look elsewhere.
“Stellenbosch are planning to come back with an improved offer in their pursuit of Chumani Butsaka,” Soccer Laduma source stated.
“The club is serious in its chase of the player’s signature, and Spurs aren’t ignoring offers for him or any of their players as it is made out to be in the media, but they are expecting offers to be reasonable.
“Spurs spent so much money developing these players, and it is only fair they get what is reasonable for their services.”
