Cape Town City FC is the outright favourites to beat Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 semifinal first leg in Cape Town.
After the first leg was postponed from yesterday to today due to unfavourable weather conditions in the Mother City, the Citizens are clear favourites to walk out with a victory.

Going into the clash City were underdogs due to their unfavourable return in domestic cup competitions played on Tuesdays, which has seen the club play two matches on Tuesday and won none.
However, according to stats provided by Opta, on X, the Citizens’ record in domestic cup matches on Wednesday makes them clear favourites against Pirates.
In the four matches they have played on Wednesdays, they have managed to win all four while not conceding a single goal in the process.
Making them clear favourites to come out with a victory in the first leg, which will be played later today.

The match at the DHL Stadium is set to kick off at 6 pm. and an hour before the other semifinal between Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch FC at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville kicks off.
The return legs of both semifinals are set for this upcoming Saturday, the 1st of August, and Sunday, the second of August, respectively.
