But before his move, they were a lot of talks locally linking him with a move to two of the big three clubs in South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns and Chiefs.
Something that his agent, Michaels Basia, revealed in an interview with Andile Ncube on Metro FM show Sports Night Amplified.
“Chiefs had also put down a significant offer for Khanyisa, a few moments before we had actually penned our deal with CRB,” Basia stated on SNAWA.
“I do think had the deal fallen out with CRB, Khanyisa would’ve gone to Chiefs.”
She also went on to touch on the family history of Mayo when it comes to Chiefs, as his father, Patrick Mayo, played for the Naturena-based club.
“He wanted what we would call the best outcome for himself,” she further went on.
“It wasn’t a money-thing, Khanyisa wanted to go to Chiefs, there is no question about it. His father played for Chiefs. It has a bit of heritage for him.
“But he always wanted to leave South Africa. It’s something that he’d always expressed to me, I have been representing him since 2018.”
