Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. reveals why the club signed Bongani Sam ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
Amakhosi landed the 27-year-old left fullback from their arch-rivals on a three-year deal with an option for a further year for an undisclosed fee.

However, the defender is currently out injured after suffering a foot injury while on pre-season camp in Turkey last month and was forced to return to the country alongside Edmilson Dove, who is also injured.
Despite the injury setback, the club’s Sporting Director, Motaung Jr. revealed the reason behind the club signing Sam on the club’s website.
“We are really excited to have Bongani Sam in our fold,” says Amakhosi Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr.
“Given his age, which is 26, he has amassed quite a bit of experience, having played for several teams in the Premiership since he started his top-flight career seven years ago.
“We do wish him well, and we know he will fit in as part of the Kaizer Chiefs Family.”

Sam is the club’s fourth signing of the window after Gaston Sirino, who joins on a free transfer after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of the season, Rushwin Dortley joins from Cape Town Spurs FC, and Fiacre Ntwari who joins the Naturena-based club from TS Galaxy FC.
