In the last few seasons, Stellies lost players like Olwethu Makhanya, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, and Junior Mendieta to bigger clubs.

Despite losing the players, the Winelands club has managed to bounce back and produce quality players from their junior ranks.

Ahead of the 2024/2025 pre-season, the club is said to be set to lose players like Jayden Adams, who is linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns and Iqraam Rayners who is linked with Kaizer Chiefs.

However, the club’s head coach, Steve Barker, feels different heading into the transfer window.

Talking to journalists after 5-0 victory over Polokwane City, Barker insisted that the players should see the grass is not always greener on the other side due to recent success.

Stellies is currently on a 24 unbeaten streak, which saw the club win the 2023 Carling Knockout Cup and are also in the running to qualify for the 2024-25 CAF Champions League.

They are currently leading third place Orlando Pirates with three points, having amassed 46 points with four games left.
