Orlando Pirates star attacker Patrick Maswanganyi appears to have suffered an injury scare during the club’s first 2024-2025 pre-season match in Marbella, Spain.
Pirates played their first of four 2024-2025 Spain pre-season against an English Championship side Plymouth Argyle led by the legendary former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney.

The Buccaneers started the match on the forefront and had a chance to break the deadlock through Monnapule Saleng, who shot wide after beating his marker.
But the Sea Robbers went into the break, leading 2-1 after goals from lanky striker Evidence Makgopa and star defender Olisa Ndah sandwiched a goal from Argyle by Freddie Issaka.
However, despite the lead, the Soweto are likely to be without their star player, Maswanganyi, for their next match on Monday, the 15th, against Sevilla FC, after the attacker suffered what looked like hamstring injury mid-way in the first half.
Despite the injury scare, the attacker continued with the match before being substituted at half-time alongside all the players that played in the first half.
Plymouth went on to tie the score late in the game through Callum Wright, having missed a golden chance mid-way in the second half.
