Mamelodi Sundowns shows interest in signing Kaizer Chiefs’ starlet ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
Since the appointment of Flemming Berg as the technical director towards the end of the 2022/2023 season, Sundowns has been eyeing to build a strong development structure.

Flemming decided to build the club’s reserve team with the majority of players under the age of 18, as the club intended to continue dominating South African football for the next coming years.
In their quest to continue dominating, they have identified Kaizer Chiefs academy goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba as a possible future first-team goalkeeper, according to Soccer Laduma.
The youngster who is likened to Amakhosi legendary goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has been brilliant for the Naturena-based club over the years, and his recent performances in the 2024 Gauteng Engen Knockout Challenge has impressed many Premier Soccer League(PSL) scouts.
“Takalani Mazhamba, who is the Kaizer Chiefs reserve team goalkeeper, impressed scouts from several PSL clubs with his breath-taking performances. Sundowns is one of the clubs that are impressed with the talented youngster. The boy was so influential in helping Chiefs win the 2024 Engen Knockout Challenge at Mark’s Park in Johannesburg over the weekend. In one of the games in the semifinals against Randburg FC, he made three penalty saves, which sent Chiefs to the final,” Soccer Laduma stated.

Meanwhile, the youngster is expected to be a big part of Chiefs’ under-19 side and reserve in the Gauteng Development League(GDL) and Dstv Diski Challenge(DDC) respectively this upcoming season.
