Mamelodi Sundowns have broken the PSL points record by beating Stellenbosch FC 1-0 in a thrilling top-of-the-table clash.

The match started with both teams eager to control the game, but it was Stellenbosch who came close to scoring first with Iqraam Rayners‘ shot just missing the target.

Sundowns had a great chance in the 30th minute, but Peter Shalulile’s effort was saved by Stellenbosch’s goalkeeper, Sage Stephens.
Stellenbosch then had a penalty chance after Bathusi Aubaas brought down Rayners in the box, but Williams made a great save to keep the score 0-0.
In the second half, Sundowns took charge and finally broke the deadlock in the 66th minute.
Thembinkosi Lorch’s cross found Lesiba Nku, who scored the winning goal.
Sundowns held on to their lead and secured another clean sheet, going unbeaten in their 28th league game.

With this win, Sundowns moved to 72 points from 28 games, breaking the previous record of 71 points set by Pitso Mosimane’s side in 2015/16.
