Fired Kaizer Chiefs star resurface at fellow Premier Soccer League club.
Released By Chiefs
Omega Mdaka, a former Kaizer Chiefs youngster, has found his way to train with AmaZulu in Durban.
The defender was one of the few players whom Chiefs released from their DStv Diski Challenge team after they allegedly refused to be the ball boys.
Mdaka and his teammate Puso Dithejane had their contracts terminated and became free agents with immediate effect.
The incident happened during the Carling Knockout Round of 16 against AmaZulu at FNB Stadium last month, where Chiefs lost 1-0.
New Opportunity For Fired Kaizer Chiefs Star
Mdaka started to train with Pablo Franco Martin’s side on Sunday, according to iDiski Times sources.
He is hoping to impress the coach and secure a deal with the Durban-based club, who are currently fourth in the DStv Premiership standings.
Mdaka is a product of Chiefs’ development academy and has represented South Africa at the U-17 level.
He is a versatile player who can play as a centre-back or a right-back.
Compensation Due
There were reports that Chiefs, having developed Mdaka, are due a compensation since he is not older than 24 as per FIFA rules.
This means that AmaZulu will have to pay a training fee to Chiefs if they sign Mdaka.
Dithejane has since been signed by TS Galaxy. He is also a defender who can play in multiple positions.
