Mamelodi Sundowns and Banyana Banyana shot-stopper Andile Dlamini saves two penalties to send South Africa to the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations.

After dominating the match for the majority of the 120 minutes, Banyana required the heroics of Dlamini to book their place into the top four of the tournament.
South Africa would consider themselves unlucky to win the match through penalties after missing a number of chances during the normal time.
Lebogang Ramalepe, Jermaine Seoposenwe, and Hilda Magaia all had clear chances to break the deadlock during the match, but the trio were wasteful in front of net.
However, their blushes were quickly saved by Dlamini who saved Senegal’s second and third penalties from Nguenar Ndiaye and Meta Kande respectively.
Her two saves saw Banyana earn a 4-1 victory on penalties after the quartert of Karabo Dhlamini, Tiisetso Makhubela, Gabriela Solgado, and Bambanani Mbane netted their spots for South Africa.
Banyana will next face arch-rivals, Nigeria in the semis on Tuesday, the 22nd of July 2025, with the match set to kick off at 5 pm.
