Kaizer Chiefs young goalkeeper Bontle Molefe is set for a big season in the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

Molefe has been the club’s fourth choice goalkeeper for the last two seasons after the departure of Daniel Akpeyi and Itumeleng Khune, but he is yet to feature for the first-team in a competitive match.

The 20-year-old had to rely on the reserve team for playing time, as he has been a constant feature in the reserve team even when the club was struggling with their goalkeepers last season.
Brandon Petersen started the season as number one ahead of Bruce Bvuma and Khune, but his struggles led to the club trying his understudies, who also struggled leaving the club to finish 10th in the league.
However, despite the struggles, the South African junior international wasn’t given a chance in the first team, something he is likely to rectify this upcoming season.
He is among the three Chiefs keepers who have travelled to Turkey for pre-season, with Petersen and Bvuma the other goalkeepers.
The trio has been put through their paces this pre-season by the club’s new goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi, and the youngster is looking to challenge his senior teammates for the number one spot.
Supersport TV analyst Karabo Phasha shared the magnitude of this season for Molefe on X, detailing how the arrival Mzoughi could change his fortune at Naturena.
“Sometimes all a player needs is an arm around his shoulder; love, care, support, and understanding,” Phasha said on X.
“His had a SOLID preseason. Went to trials last year in Belgium, and (he) might get some minutes this year, BIG potential is Bontle, all the best.
But the arrival of Fiacre Ntwari, who signed a three-year deal with an option for a further year from Chippa United, could see Molefe go out on loan or demoted back to the reserve team for game time.

However, he is also in line to compete for the club’s number one spot, which is currently vacant and has been for couple of years now.
