Bafana Bafana international Thapelo Maseko is facing uncertain times at Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of the 2025-2026 season.

Maseko joined the Brazilians on a long-term deal back in 2023 from now-defunct town-rivals SuperSport United for a hefty fee believed to be around R20 million.
With the hopes high of the player doing better than he did at SuperSport, the 22-year-old has turned into a shadow of a player he used to be at Matsatsantsa.
In the seasons he has been at Chloorkop, he has struggled to cement his place in the team, which has left his place in head coach Miguel Cardoso’s squad uncertain amid interest from European clubs.
The Portuguese tactician is trimming Sundowns’ squad ahead of next season, with as many as 11 players already having left the club with more to follow.
Maseko is among the players that the club may look to ship to achieve their goal of having the number of players the coach is looking to have for the new season.
While European clubs in Belgium and Cyprus are looking at the situation closely, Betway Premiership club, Siwele FC may be an option on a season-long loan deal.
