Mamelodi Sundowns is set to name Manqoba Mngqithi as the club’s next head coach after the departure of Rulani Mokwena.

Recently, the Brazilians parted ways with Mokwena after a fallout between the club’s hierarchy led by Sporting Director Flemming Berg and the tactician.

The 37-year-old’s departure opened a void at the club, which changed the club’s negotiations with Mngqithi over a new deal, as he is now expected to take over as the head coach according to his agent Mike Makaab.
The legendary agent confirmed on Gagasi FM yesterday that Mngqithi is set to take over the head coach role and will be assisted by Senior Coach, Steve Komphela.
“Manqoba(Mngqithi) was the senior coach assisting Rulani Mokwena, so at this stage, Manqoba will take over as the head coach,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM.
He further went on to reiterate that the club will make announcements in the next coming weeks or months to clarify the whole make-up of the technical team.
“Again, it will be clarified over the months to come or weeks to come, and Steve Komphela returns as the senior coach.
He also touched on the duo’s working relationship and how well they have worked with each other in the past and applauds the club for bringing him back.
