Gauteng Development League(GDL) confirms the passing of an under-15 player during a match yesterday.
After Stream A(top-tier) of action played on Saturday, where the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Jomo Cosmos play in, Stream B(second-tier) took place yesterday.

20 clubs were in action across Gauteng in four different divisions, which includes the under-13s, 15s, 17s, and 19s.
Among the clubs in action, Jacaranda Callies hosted West Youth Academy at the Laudium Sports Field in Centurion, Pretoria.
Despite the youngsters from both clubs looking to fight for promotion at the end of the season, the match-ups ended on a sour note.
During the second match of the four(under-15s), Thlokomelo Phasa of WYA lost his life after was struck by a ball during the match, as confirmed by the league(GDL).
“Sad news in Gauteng Development League as a player lost his life while have confirmed that the Academy has lost one of it’s players, Tlhokomelo Phasa while on duty,” the league stated on their various social media platforms.
“West Youth Academy family lost a young player during their match at Jacaranda. The u15 boy was hit badly on his chest with the ball and fell. Paramedics tried everything, and sadly, they could resuscitate the young player.
“May his soul REST IN PEACEFUL.”
