Legendary former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana superstar Dr. Jomo Sono opens up about his nephew, Rulani Mokwena, moving to Morocco.

Mokwena completed a move to Wydad Athletic Club this past week a week after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, signing a three-year contract expiring in 2027 with an option to extend it for a further.

His move to Casablanca was by many as a chance to prove his coaching skills, as they felt his success to Sundowns was down to Pitso Mosimane’s work in the past and the financial muscles the club has.

However, his legendary uncle, Sono(through his father Julius Sono), feels the 37-year-old tactician has nothing to prove, and has a chance to build his own legacy in the North of Africa like Mosimane did in Egypt.

“All we to do, all those who believe in him like myself must pray for him and give him all the support that he must be successful there(Morroco),” Dr. Sono told Robert Marawa on MSW.

“Not for the sake of Sundowns. He has nothing to prove. He is going for himself there. He must leave a legacy in Morocco like Pitso (Mosimane) has done (in Egypt). Pitso has left a legacy whether he’s got a job now or he hasn’t got a job. He has left a legacy. He must do the same.”
