Former Mamelodi Sundowns attacking middlefielder Junior Mendieta joins Greek side, Asteras Tripoli, after parting ways with Saudi Division 1 side, Al-Faisaly.

Mendieta left Sundowns back in July 2024 to join another Greek side, NPS Volos, a season after joining the club from fellow Betway Premiership club, Stellenbosch FC.
Six months into his move, the Argentinean player moved to the Gulf region to join a Saudi First Division side, Al-Faisaly, back in January.
After playing 15 matches, scoring four goals, and providing no assits in Saudi Arabia, the 32-year-old diminutive attacker has completed a move back to Greece.
Mendieta has joined Asteras Tripoli for an undisclosed fee, and he becomes the club’s 13th signing of the window, as the club looks to mount serious challenges for titles this season.
Other players that the club has signed this transfer window so far includes Dimitris Emmanuelidis, Giannis Giakoumakis, Konstantinos Pomonis, Nikola Šipčic, Spyros Angelidis, Christos Alymras, Issiaga Sylla, Nikos Kanellopoulos, Dimitris Grameno, Dimitris Retsos, Vasilis Hadjiemanouil, Alberto Simoni, and Alexandro Fernández.
Meanwhile, despite all the signings, the club continues to be active in the market, as they are linked with players across Europe and the world.
