Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing Etiosa Ighodaro outsmarts Mamelodi Sundowns to join his new side on a free transfer.

Upon hearing of the player’s imminent move to Chiefs, Sundowns quickly tried to stop the move by offering the striker a new contract offer and guarantee that he would play at the club as Lucas Ribeiro Costa and Peter Shalulile are heading for an exit.
Ighodaro declined the offer, which prompted Sundowns to try to force the attacker to stay at the club and even try to offload him to Esperance Sportive de Tunis, which the player rejected.
After being loaned out to four different clubs, Sundowns couldn’t afford to loan out the player as per FIFA rules, and with his contract lapsing, the Brazilians tried to block his move to Naturena.
Upon learning Sundowns’ tactics, Ighodaro and his representatives took the legal route to force a move out of the club.
After the Chloorkop-based club learned that they would lose the case, they ended up handing the 24-year-old his clearance this past Monday.
Chiefs wasted no time and registered the player as well as announcing his signature.
Ighodaro is expected to make his debut in Chiefs’ next two matches with one of the matches being against Sundowns.
