Zakhele Lepasa sends a message of gratitude to Orlando Pirates days after officially partying ways with the Soweto giants.

In what came as a shock to many, Pirates officially parted ways with the 28-year-old attacker a day after the South African Football Association(SAFA) hinted that the player had left the club.
SAFA announced their 23-men squad for the 2025 CHAN tournament, which Lepasa is a part of, but next to his name in the poster that Association used to announce the squad, he was mentioned as an unattached player.
Just over a few days after the announcement, Lepasa took to various social media platforms to share words of gratitude towards Pirates and everyone whom he came in contact with during his eight-plus years stay at the Houghton giants.
“I’ve had a difficult time trying to process what’s been happening in the past two weeks in my life,” Lepasa states.
“I’ve known for a while now that I’m going to leave the club. And I’ve used this time to reflect.
“But first, I want to thank the Chairman for giving me an opportunity, the management as well.
“I would love to thank the technical team, every coach that I’ve worked with at Orlando Pirates. Every player that I have been lucky enough to share a dressing room with, the kit man, the backroom staff, and most importantly, I want to thank the fans.
“Every person who’s always been rooting for me from day one.
“I just want to thank you guys and I want you to know that as I step into the next chapter of my life, I look forward with excitement and I’m so grateful for what I leave behind. Once and always.”
Meanwhile, Lepasa is not short of suitors, Kaizer Chiefs and Durban City are said to be interested.
