Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos reacts to Orlando Pirates star attacker Relebohile Mofokeng’s recent dip of form.

Speaking ahead of announcing his squad to face Lesotho and Benin on the 21st and 25th of March respectively in the 2026 CAF World Cup Qualifiers this past Thursday, Broos shared his thoughts on why Mofokeng is having a dip in his form.
“There is so much around Rele at the moment, teams who are interested and certainly there is already speaking about this, also the pressure on him, eight months ago nobody knew Mofokeng and then suddenly he explodes with Pirates,” Broos said on SABC studios about Relebohile Mofokeng’s forme.

“He has become a very good player, and everyone has expectations, I don’t know what from him, but he is only 20.
“He is only playing one full year in a team like Pirates, so you see, now he is getting a little dip, the level a bit less.
“I can’t drop him now that his level is a bit less, I will always support him, but he has to get over this. It is up to him.
“He plays in a team now, who at a certain moment could have been champions, so they expect more from him than six, seven months ago.”
