Former Mamelodi Sundowns president and South African business tycoon Dr Patrice Motsepe elected as the CAF president for a second consecutive term.

After a successful first stint as the federation’s president between 2021 and 2025, which has seen the federation take a huge financial reform, Motsepe was re-elected as the president unchallenged.

His re-election has shown how his leadership has changed African football for the better, leading to multiple, if not all, organisations in the continent backing his re-election.
In his acceptance speech, Motsepe thanked the people who re-elected him and also shared how hard they had been working for the federation and Africa.
“Thanks to all the vice presidents,” Motsepe stated in his speech.
“When we had a meeting on Monday, some of the staff, some of the EXCO members, and some of the member associations said, ‘President, please don’t call us at two o’clock in the morning if there is something you are worried about.’ I promised them that ‘I think I will call you at two o’clock in the afternoon.’
“So, thank you so much because this is about Africa, this is about the people of this continent, and it has been a huge privilege for me to get exposed to each and every one of you, because you represent the very best of the continent and the very best of the world.
“Thank you once more.”
His second term is set to run from 2025 and 2029.
