Kaizer Chiefs fans react to the possibility of facing Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup after yesterday’s draw.

Yesterday, after the fourth and final quarterfinal of this season’s Nedbank Cup took place, the Premier Soccer League contacted a semifinal draw.

The outcome of the draw saw Chiefs pitted against the winner of the quarterfinal clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United, who had their fixture postponed due to the venue for the match being doubled booked.

The possibility of facing Sundowns for the fourth time this season drew mixed emotions from Chiefs fans.

This comes after Sundowns defeated the Naturena-based club in the other three encounters this season, with the recent one being a 1-0 victory at the beginning of this month.

Chiefs fan by the name of Tshemedi took to X to raise his concern about the possibility of facing Sundowns.

Stating that every time they gather momentum or they are happy, they draw Sundowns.

“Every time we are happy, they draw us against Sundowns,” Tshemedi stated.

While Tshemedi seemed concerned, the club’s other fans like Modisha Richie seemed confident of beating Sundowns should the Brazilians beat Babina Noko in their quarterfinal clash.

“People seem to underestimate Chiefs, especially Downs fans, sure Chiefs is criminally inconsistent, but i don’t think Sundowns has been having it easy against Chiefs of late,” Sir Richie replied.

“To assume that Downs will just cruise is naivety, it’s only a matter of time that Chiefs beats OP(Orlando Pirates) & Downs.”

Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, the defending champions Orlando Pirates takes on Marumo Gallants.

The semi-finals will be played on the 11th and 12th of April, with the final set for late May, if not early June.
