Orlando Pirates star goalkeeper Sipho Chaine shares a heartfelt message to his late mother a year to the day after her passing.

On the 8th of March 2024, a day before Pirates recorded a 3-2 victory over Kaizer Chiefs in the league at FNB Stadium, Chaine suffered the greatest loss of his life.
The 28-year-old lost his mother and still went on to start in goals for the Buccaneers against their arch-rivals before breaking down after full time.
A year after his mother’s passing, the South African international still seems to be affected by it.
Yesterday marked a year to day of his mother’s passing, and his performance for Pirates in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash against SuperSport United left much to be desired despite his heroics during penalty shootouts.
He was responsible for SuperSport’s equaliser in the first half after he missed a ball in the 43rd minute, which led to his former teammate Terrence Dzukamanja having any easy way to goals to make the scoreline 1-1.
However, he quickly made up for it by saving two penalties in the penalty shootouts to hand Pirates a passage into semis.

After the match, Chaine shared a message on his Instagram story, which revealed how a part of him left him when his mom passed on and also how her teachings helped him to overcome the mistakes he has made in life.
The prime example being how he managed to rise from the Dzukamanja’s goal to winning the match for Pirates, a perfect example of them.
“A part of me left me a year ago,” Chaine stated in his Instagram story.
“Today, I lived out the most difficult day. A day/game that is summed up in your character. How a person can get up after a huge drop.
“You’ve taught me to take ownership, to take responsibility in whatever I do.
“We make mistakes. It’s part of life. Just bounce back super stronger next time.
“‘Above everything else, believe God with every piece of you.’ – This is what I live by.”
