Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro reacts to his side’s Nedbank Cup quarterfinal victory over SuperSport United in Polokwane.

After goals from goals from Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Evidence Makgopa handed a 2-1 lead to the visitors until the 93rd minute, where a coolly slotted short from Gape Moralo sent the match into extra-time.
Either side failed to find the winner in the extra 30 minutes despite having good enough chances to change the scoreline.
The match ended 2-2 after extra time and went to penalty shotout, which Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine walked out of as the hero for the Buccaneers.

After the match, Pirates’ head coach reacted to victory while also praising Chaine’s contributions to the victory.
“It’s one of the possibilities in a knockout game, there’s only two possible results in these types of games, if you can not make it in the 120 minutes, you have to go to penalties and do your best,” Riveiro said after the match.
“We did a good job in that space, and again, happy to be in the semi-finals.
“It’s his role in the penalty shoot out, he has to stay there between the posts and try to catch at least one more than the opponent, he’s been doing well in that scenario in recent occasions in penalties.
“Today again, he did an excellent job, together with the analysis department, with the goalkeeper coach, with everyone in that space, helping him to make the right decisions.”
The victory over stubborn Matsatsantsa side sees the Buccaneers move into the semis of the trophy they have won the last two seasons.
While they are also likely to face their arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs who are in the last four after beating Stellenbosch FC controversially.
