Stellenbosch FC is set to pay Kaizer Chiefs around R1 500 000 ahead of the 2024-2025 season.

Yesterday, Stellies signed former Chiefs reserve team left fullback and captain Omega Mdaka on a free transfer after the youngster was released by Amakhosi for disciplinary issues back in October 2023.

The 20-year-old was shown the exit doors at Naturena alongside the now TS Galaxy player Thuso Dithejane after they were found guilty of leading a handful of reserve players to refusing to carry out ball-boy duties for a senior team match.
However, upon releasing them, the club announced that anyone who wishes to sign them must pay an R1.5 million development fee, as stated in the FIFA laws.
While Galaxy negotiated with Chiefs and signed Dithejane, AmaZulu FC went against signing Mdaka, as they felt R1.5 million was steep for a free agent.
However, towards the end of last season, the South African junior international resurfaced at Stellies in the hope of landing a deal for the upcoming season.
Ahead of the 2024-2025 season, the youngster joined the Winelands after left fullback Qobolwakhe joined the Rockets, leaving Fawaaz Basadien as the only recognized left back at the club.
Mdaka joining means the Naturena-based club will receive R1.5 million from the Stellies ahead of the new season.
