Under pressure, Wydad Athletic Club head coach Rulani Mokwena is set to stay at the club for at least until the end of the 2026 Club FIFA World Cup.

The South African tactician held talks with Wydad AC’s hierarchy led by the club president Hicham Ait Menna after the club was knocked out of the Throne Cup by Mohgreb Tétouan.

Heading into the meeting, Menna revealed that he had pressure from the club’s faithful and the board to show the coach the exit doors.
However, he is unable to due to the club not having the necessary finances to be able to pay the 38-year-old coach out of his four-year contract he signed with the club before the beginning of the season.
This led to Mokwena being asked to leave his post and the club, which he refused to and instead chose to focus on turning the situation around.
He is now focused on finishing second in the Inwi Botola Pro league and secure CAF Champions League spot for next season and the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the USA in June this year.
They currently find themselves in third position with 43 points, two behind AS FAR in second place with five games left to be played.
