Former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena is prepared to leave his Moroccan-based club, Wydad Athletic Club.

Mokwena has been under pressure at the Casablanca-based club recently, seeing the club’s fans calling for the South African tactician to be shown the exit doors.
After his side played to a one-all draw with Ittihad Tanger early morning yesterday their fourth in as many games, the frustrated and emotional Mokwena reveals that he will change his style of play and he is well opened to leaving club’s believes he is not the right man for the club no more.

“Look, when you bring me to Wydad, you bring me with a certain style of play, and I will never abandon my style of play,” Mokwena told the media after the match against Ittihad Tanger.
“I am sorry, I worked very hard as a coach to build, study, and research what works.
“And it has worked for me in the past, and I am sure it will work here, but it needs a little bit of time.
“I am in a position where I love the club so much, and I can tell you that if I’m the problem for Wydad, I will be the first one to ask for permission to go back to South Africa.
“If I am the problem, I give the president and the board full responsibility to relieve me from my duties. I don’t want to hold Wydad back.
“If Wydad feels they can do better without me, believe me, I love this club too much to be a problem here.”
Meanwhile, the club is said to be looking to hold to Mokwena until at least after the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup should the results continue not going his way.
They currently have no plans to change their head coach, despite the inconsistent run of form.
