Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi provides an update on the club’s pursuit of Mamelodi Sundowns star striker Etiosa Godspower Ighodaro.

Amakhosi’s pursuit of the Nigerian striker is well documented, as the player was among the list of players that applied visas to the Netherlands for a pre-season.
However, despite a video clip and images of what was supposed to be his unveiling being leaked to the public, Chiefs’ head coach has lifted the lid on the matter.
Speaking to the media during the 2025-2026 Betway Premiership season launch, the Tunisian tactician revealed the club’s pursuit of the player, the difficulties they are facing in trying to sign him, as well as how he would love to have him in his team.
“That player belongs to another team with administrative issues,” Nabi told the media.
“But he or another striker that we listed on our transfer list will be welcomed. For now, we will wait to hear from our administration if he or another striker will join.
“I saw the player you are asking about last season for AmaZulu, and I believe he is a good player, but he is a player that doesn’t belong to our club, and we can’t say much about it.”
Meanwhile, the Naturena-based club has decided to offer central middlefielder George Matlou a one-year extension.
His contract at the club had ended at the end of the 2024-2025 season.
