Former SAFA and FIFA match official Victor Hlungwani reacts to Mamelodi Sundowns star attacker Peter Shalulile’s disallowed goal against Golden Arrows.

Last week, Sundowns were held to a one-all draw by Arrows after a controversial call from the match official’s assistant early in the second half.
In the 47th with scoreline 1-1, the Brazilians middlefielder Teboho Mokoena whipped in a devilish cross from the left flank, which Shalulile controlled before releasing a left footed strike across the Arrows goalkeeper, Ismail Watenga into the back of the net to only be chalked off for offside.
Upon close inspection and on replays, the assistant got the call wrong, and the Namibian international was nowhere close to being offside.
Sentiments shared by Hlungwani on SABC Sport show, Soccer Zone, as he criticised the linesman for the call and how the referee should have overruled the decision and awarded the goal.

“Ruled offside by Given (assistant referee), when we draw the line, without drawing the line, it’s clear, the defender played Shalulile on the chest,” Victor Hlungwani stated on Soccer Zone.
No way it was offside, that goal was incorrectly ruled for offside. The referee should have overruled him.
“Peter is very good with his runs, 80% of his runs are good.
“Referees should do their homework on Shalulile because (he is not always offside) we also had a problem with Percy Tau (who was also good with his runs).”
