Former SAFA and FIFA referee Victor Hlungwani says Richards Bay’s second goal against Kaizer Chiefs this past Sunday should have been chalked off.

Chiefs suffered a shock 2-0 defeat away in KwaZulu-Natal in the hands of the Natal Richboyz.
However, one of the two goals was not supposed to have stood due to an offside call that was not spotted by match officials on the day, according to Victor Hlungwani.
During a SABC Sport show, Soccerzone Hlungwani revealed and showed that Richards Bay’s second goal by Yanela Mbuthuma shouldn’t have counted as the attacker was in an offside position when Thulani Gumede took the strike towards Bruce Bvuma’s posts.

“You can see when the ball is played, Mbuthuma is standing in another position, we will draw the line for you to show you where he is standing is whether he is an offside position or onside,” Victor Hlungwani stated on Soccerzone.
“Let’s see where Mbuthuma is standing(when the shot is taken). There is Mbuthuma in an offside position(when the shot was taken).
“Now we will see when the ball rebounds from the goalpost, when he plays the ball, offside interfering or gaining an advantage by being in that position.
“So this was ruled onside, and goal was given. Incorrect decision because he gained an advantage by being in that position that should have ruled offside.”
