Three clubs are said to be looking to sign troubled Orlando Pirates star attacker Monnapule Saleng at the end of the season.

Saleng last featured for the Buccaneers back in December 2024 against Al Ahly SC in a CAF Champions League Group match due to his ongoing contractual issues with the club.
With many Pirates faithful hopeful of seeing the South African international back in action in the club’s colours, indications are that the attacker is more than likely to leave the club at the end of the season.

According to The South African, up to three clubs are interested in taking away the 27-year-old South African international from Pirates.
The publication reports that Pirates’ arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs, African giants, Al Ahly, and French Ligue 1 club, Monaco, are interested in signing the troubled star.
Meanwhile, Saleng, who is expected to return to action for Pirates before the end of the season, is expected to hand in a transfer request at the end of the season after the Buccaneers decided to trigger an extension in his contract.
The extension will see the former now-defunct Free State Stars attacker stay at the club until June 2027.
Monnapule Saleng and the current employer know the the truth that we are not aware of, so the decision is up to the player to extend the contract or not but according to myself with the current information on hand if I was the player I would decide to exit the Buccaneers camp.
It is not up to the player, but the club, as the club, has an option to extend his stay for a further two years
I agree, if the club decide to extend the contract I would still decide to exit the camp realising that the environment is not not going to be be friendly as such
Even still you don’t have the final say
Does that apply even at the end of the current contract?
No, but Saleng signed a three-year deal with an option to extend for a further two years. Meaning the club has an option to extend his contract for two years as long as its not in the last six months cause then he is allowed to sign a pre-contract with a club of his choice
