The Brazilians have a comfortable lead after winning 2-0 in Angola, but they will be missing eight key players due to injuries.

Sundowns’ Injury list

The following players are at risk of being ruled out for the match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium due to injuries like they did during the last game:

Thapelo Morena: The versatile defender is recovering from an abdominal injury that he sustained in the first leg.

He is undergoing stage 2 rehabilitation and is expected to be out for at least another two weeks.

Siyanda Nyanga: The midfielder is suffering from a shoulder injury and is also in stage 2 rehabilitation.

He is likely to be sidelined for at least three weeks.

Sipho Mbule: The creative midfielder suffers from an ankle injury and is in stage 3 rehabilitation.

He will miss the Petro game.

Bathusi Aubaas: He pulled his adductor muscle in the first leg and is in stage 3 rehabilitation.

He will be out for approximately four weeks.

Lucas Ribeiro: The Brazilian attacker is suffering from a knee injury and is in stage 3 rehabilitation.

He is expected to return in later this year.

Abubeker Nasir: The Ethiopian attacker has a quad muscle injury and is in stage 2 rehabilitation.

Which will see him absent for around two weeks.

Peter Shalulile: The Namibian forward has an ankle problem and is in stage 2 rehabilitation.

He is doubtful about the Petro game.

Lebohang Maboe: The attacking midfielder missed the last match due to illness, and he is also doubtful for the second leg.

Squad depth

Despite the injury crisis, Sundowns has enough quality and depth to overcome Petro and advance to the semifinals.

The match will kick off at 19:00 on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Sundowns need to avoid losing by more than two goals to secure their place in the last four of the African Football League.
