Gaston Sirino, the Uruguayan midfielder who plays for Mamelodi Sundowns, has been linked with a move away from the club for several months.

The 32-year-old reportedly wanted to join his former coach Pitso Mosimane at Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates, but the transfer did not materialize before the deadline.

Sirino back in action for Sundowns

Despite his transfer request, Sirino has recently returned to the Sundowns squad and featured in their Carling Knockout opening round against TS Galaxy on October 18.

He came off the bench and helped his team secure a 2-0 victory.

Sirino to try again in January?

According to Soccer Laduma sources, Sirino may still be keen to leave Sundowns in the next transfer window, which opens in January 2023.

He is said to have apologized to his teammates, officials and hierarchy for his previous actions, but he may still have his sights set on a reunion with Mosimane.

However, it is not clear if Al Wahda are still interested in signing him, or if Sundowns are willing to let him go.
