South African Football Association(SAFA) and South African senior female football team, Banyana Banyana, each an agreement.
Just more than two weeks away from participating in their second consecutive FIFA World Cup, Banyana Banyana, were dealt a blow the country’s football association, SAFA.

WHAT DID SAFA DO TO BANYANA BANYANA!
FIFA allocates around $30 000(R565 000) for every player who exits the tournament during group stages.
SAFA guaranteed to receive around R29 million for Banyana Banyana participating in the tournament.
It came as a surprise to the nation when it announced that SAFA did not include the money in their contracts and did not intend to do so.
However, the South African Football Players’ Union(SAFPU) got involved to protect the Banyana players’ rights ahead of the tournament.
WHAT DID SAFPU DO!
The union helped the players to voice their opinions and boycott their send-off friendly match against Botswana.
Which was played at Tsakane Stadium, by another team selected by SAFA.
The players cited the stadium they are going to play in, the opponents on the day, and the money issue as their reason to not play.
SAFA president Danny Jordan sent the ladies home and found a make shift squad to play the friend against Botswana.

FINDING A SOLUTION!
A solution to the problem has been found.
After a meeting between the players, SAFA, South African government, Motsepe Foundation, and players’ union.
SABC Sport personality Andile Ncube will host all the parties involved in this situation, sharing to the nation what the outcome of the meeting was and what will happen going forward.
