Rulani Mokwena and Wydad Athletic Club are said to be looking to sign another two Mamelodi Sundowns players.

Rulani Mokwena
AmaZulu FC striker Etiosa Ighodaro and Chippa United veteran middlefielder Andile Jali during a Betway Premiership match at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on the 29th of October 2024.

Ever since parting ways with Sundowns and joining Morrocan giants Wydad AC, Mokwena has been looking at the possibility of signing his former players from Sundowns.

So far, he has managed to sign three of his ex-players from Sundowns, namely, Abdelmounaim Boutouil, on a permanent deal, Cassius Mailula on-loan from MLS side Toronto FC, and Thembinkosi Lorch from the Brazilians on loan.

Despite signing some of the best players from around the world, Rulani Mokwena still continues to look at bringing in his former players.

Having failed to sign him at the beginning of the season and in January, Mokwena is set to go in again for Sipho Mbule, whom he signed from SuperSport United while he was still at Sundowns.

Bafana Bafana International is in his final three months of his contract at Sundowns, but the Brazilians have an option to extend his contract beyond this year.

But they are unlikely to do so, as Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso is working on cutting the club’s squad.

Meanwhile, the troubled Sundowns star  who is currently out on loan at Sekhukhune United is not the only Sundowns player Mokwena and Wydad AC are targeting.

Etiosa Ighodaro, who is currently out on loan at AmaZulu FC, is another player Mokwena is said to be looking to bring to Casablanca.

However, Mokwena and his side will face tough challenges from Usuthuz Esperance Sportive de Tunis and several clubs from the Gulf region for the services of the 23-year-old striker.
