Mamelodi Sundowns is reported to have agreed to a deal in the region of around R53.2 million for one of the club’s top performers.

Lucas Ribeiro Costa, Marcelo Allende, Asekho Tiwani, Peter Shalulile, and Iqraam Rayners during a 2024-2025 Betway Premiership match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on the 1st of March 2025.

Since the club’s head coach, Miguel Cardoso, announced that the club will have a squad overhaul to cut down on the club’s bloated squad, a large number of players have indicated their intentions to leave the club.

One of the players that has been heavily linked with a move away from Chloorkop is Lucas Ribeiro Costa.

The Brazilian has attracted a number of clubs across the globe with his performances during the 2024-2025 season, which led to the 26-year-old being named the PSL Footballer of the season.

According to Ugandan football agent, radio, and tv presenter, Ronnie Santos Mwine, Qatari based club Qatar SC, and Sundowns have reached a $3 million(approximately R53.27 million) agreed for the services of Ribiero.

Meanwhile, soon to be Ribeiro’s ex-teammate, Peter Shalulile is expected to remain at the club until his contract expires at the end of the season.

This comes after clubs who are interested in his services failed to meet the R16 million price-tag Sundowns has placed on him.
